Child & Family Center Foundation
Founded in 1976, Child & Family Center is the Santa Clarita Valley’s largest Department of Mental Health contracted nonprofit mental health provider, and the only provider for children. The Center assists more than 1,600 client families annually with a comprehensive range of prevention, early intervention, evaluation and therapeutic services, and educates hundreds more through outreach efforts. The purpose of the organization is to help troubled children, adolescents, teens, transitional aged youth, adults and families reach their full potential for becoming caring, responsible individuals. The basic philosophy underlying all of the Center's programs is that early intervention and guidance, with a comprehensive approach addressing the whole family, can prevent serious problems for individuals, families and communities in the future. Our grant of $12,019.00 will equip 2, two-way observation rooms for Parent Interaction Therapy. The rooms will be outfitted with microphones, cameras, audio visual/recording equipment and state of the art multi-channel equipment for interactive communication, along with furnishings. Approximately 150-200 children ages 2-7 will be directly served in the observation rooms, receiving improved mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Their parents will receive coaching in real time through an amplifier in their ear, as they interact with their child. In addition the room will enhance clinical training for therapists. Early intervention mental health services will be greatly enhanced with the upgraded therapy equipment and an additional 350 children will benefit from improved clinical training.
