Our grant of $14,550.00 outfits a new kitchen and dining room as part of a larger renovation of their entire facility. Legacy LA offers after school alternatives to gangs and violence in Boyle Heights by providing academic, leadership and arts programs that equip youth with the tools to reach their full potential and transform their lives. Approximately 300 youth a year will receive free meals after school daily as well as classes in healthy eating and cooking. With a new kitchen, Legacy qualifies to receive free food to prepare for the kids under the city's free food program. This kitchen is vital to providing the kids with much needed nutritious food at a minimum and will provide cooking and healthy eating skills as well.
